    Kalhatty falls and Ghats
In the midst of the beautiful forest and the steep ghats is a solitary waterfall. About 100 feet in height, the Kalhatty falls are located on the Kalhatty slopes at about 13 km from Ooty. In addition to the enchanting view presented by the falls, you can also have a look at wildlife that exists in the Kalhatty-Masinagudi slopes. The wild species include Panthers, Bisons, Wild Buffaloes, Wild Dogs, Spotted Deers, Sambars and different types of hill birds. The falls attracts all sorts of animals, who come to drink water in the early hours of the day and at night.

Journey from Ooty to Kalhatty Waterfalls
The journey from Ooty to Kalhatty Waterfalls is a wonderful one with breath taking view on both sides of the road to Kalhatty. The 13km journey makes up for a nice picnic trip for a day or even a short drive back within hours. It will keep the tourists wanting for more but they will be pleased to see that there are more surprises waiting for them.

Situated on the slopes of Kalhatty, the magnanimous Kalhatty Waterfall stands pretty amidst picturesque landscapes. Surrounded by eye soothing greeneries, the ambiance of the Kalhatty Waterfalls area is very rejuvenating.

The Kalhatty Waterfall descends from a height of at least hundred feet and it announces its fall with a great thrust. The majestic fall and the roaring reverberation creates a sound and sight magic. The nearby slopes are covered with thick forests that boasts of rich flora and animals like bisons, panthers, sambhar, wild buffaloes etc. No wonder, the place has earned its reputation as one of the great Ooty Tourist Attractions.

13 kms on the ooty - old mysore (via Masinagudi) road. A nice place to picnic and watch during rainy season.
