Jungle Home is a homestay at Gudalur (Tamilnadu, India) attached to the Indian wild life sanctuary Mudumalai and Bandipur national park. Moyar river runs very close to Jungle Home making it a suitable place to watch a variety of birds and wild animals. The campus is spread over 6 acre meant for activities like fishing, bird watching, Cycling farming, The activity campus is surrounded by forest on 3 sides. Animals like Deer, Gaurs, Elephant and wild dogs frequent the property (For safety of guests we have electric fenced half of the activity campus). Jungle home is attached to the Indian wild life sanctuary Mudumalai and Bandipur national park. Hence the location is best suited for nature trip and adventurous trips. Mudumalai is a home to many wild animals, exotic birds and reptiles.

4 Day / 3 Night

Day 1
Evening 3:30 pm have a jeep or van safari at Bandipur forest office (For jeep safari you need to book in advance as there are bus loads of tourists at both Bandipur and Mudumalai during weekends and holidays. No jeep only van safari in Mudumalai forest office. No need to book in advance for van safari Evening arrival at Jungle home Night, you can try driving on the highway inside the forest between Jungle Home and Mudumalai (Theppakadu junction) Mostly you will see wild elephants grazing on the highway during night.

Day 2
Morning, between 0630 and 0800 hours, you can try going up to the river a 10 minutes walk most suitable for birding and bird watching. Lot of birds to be seen and heard. Visit the Good Shepard farm (opens at 8) to see the exotic pigeons. Relax through the day just sit in the home and watch the cartoon DVDs there. (There is a DVD player which you can use- Bring your own DVDs if you wish to) Evening around 0430 pm, start for the trek into the nearby estate, go for a trek up to the third lake, look out for elephant foot prints, giant squirrels, Langurs, birds. It is 4 km to the third lake. Relax there for a while. Start around 0500 or 0515 pm from the lake. It becomes dark after 6pm and you don't want to be caught inside the forest as elephants start moving in mostly for drinking water. Even the locals vacate by 6 pm. Come out through the forest route. Be careful of the electric fencing all along. (Don�t go for this long trek if you have kids with you - Switch the trek with a visit to the safari conducted by the forest department)

Day 3
Morning take a cab or drive in your own vehicle to Ooty. On the way visit Pykarra falls, seventh mile, the sights in Ooty. If time permits, drive back through Kalhatty falls Night, return and stay at Jungle home

3:30 PM to 06:30 PM: Safari in Bandipur / Mudumalai forest office

Day 2
06:30 AM trek into the nearby estate attached to the forest watching birds and spending time at the river 10:30 AM relax in Jungle Home or drive up to Pykarra falls and seventh mile on Gudalur Ooty road. (One and half hour drive) Drive back through Kalhatty falls
Evening: Back to Jungle Home

Day 3
06:30 AM a short trek up to the river watching birds

0330 PM to 0630 PM: Safari in Bandipur / Mudumalai forest office Night stay at Jungle Home

About Jungle home

Jungle home is Located at the border Of Mudumalai, Bandipur Forest. We provide Clean and Comfortable accommodation For nature lovers and adventurous travelers. We have a special 6 acre activity campus attached to a stream specially meant for activities like fishing, bird watching, Cycling farming, Getting wet in the artificial sprinklers or in the natural stream. The activity campus is surrounded by forest on 3 sides. Animals like Deer, Gaurs, Elephant and wild dogs frequent the property. For safety of our guests we have electric fenced half of the activity campus.

The cottage is located on the fringes of Mudumalai wild life sanctuary / Bandipur national park the home of wild animals like Elephants, Tigers, Indian Gaur, Spotted Deer, mouse deer, barking deer, Sambhar deer, Wild Boars, wild dog, wild cat, Hyenas, Fox, Pythons, Leopards, Macaques, Panther, Sloth Bear, Hare, Porcupine, Mongoose, Langurs, Malabar Red Squirrel, etc.

Many varieties of birds like Peacock, Grey Jungle Fowl, Red Spur Fowl, Grey Partridge Quails, Bulbuls, Mynahs, Eagles, crested eagles, Hawks, Falcons, Large Racket-Tailed Dronge, the Magpie-robin, Spotted Babbler, Small Green Barbet, Green Pigeons, Brown Dove, Malabar Grey Hornbill, and also a few migratory birds are also found there. All animal lovers and bird watchers are sure to love the place. People interested in Tiger safaris, Elephant safaris and spotting wild animals in their natural habitat can stay at Jungle Home as a home stay. We are a family of wildlife lovers who like to get out of the urban jungle. Jungle Home was bought and developed as a weekend getaway spot near Bangalore for our family which has slowly transformed into a semi commercial venture. The property is being maintained by our In Laws.
