1. Straight(0.2 km) on Dhanvantri Rd going toward Shayaji Rao Rd
   
2. 4th Right (past Chamundeshwari Cinema on the right) onto Shayaji Rao Rd, go 0.3 km
   
3. Continue down SH88A Hwy: <100m (Past Badshah Bazaar on the left)
   
4. At roundabout, take 2nd exit onto SH17D Hwy, go 0.8 km overall
   
5. 4th Left (past Post Office on the left) onto Chamaraja Rd, go 0.2 km
   
6. Take Slight 4th Right, go 0.1 km
   
7. Slight 3rd Right onto NH212 Hwy, go 3.9 km
   
8. Sharp Right onto NH212 Hwy, go 53 km.
   Enter Mysore District at 1.1 km.
   Via Nanjangud at 17 km.
   Enter Chamarajanagar District at 32 km.
   
9. Left onto SH17C Hwy, go 0.7 km.
   Enter Gundlupet.
   
10. Take 2nd Right, go 3.2 km.
    Leave Gundlupet.
    
11. Take Slight Left, go 6.3 km
    
12. Take Right, go 0.8 km
    
13. Take 1st Left, go 2.1 km
    
14. Take Right, go 37 km.
    Enter Tamil Nadu at 9.3 km.
    
15. Take Left, go 4 km.
    Enter Udhagamandalam at 1.8 km.
    
16. Take Right (past Hospital on the left), go 1.6 km
    
17. Take 1st Right, go 0.1 km
    
18. Take 1st Left, go 0.5 km

Ooty Travel Notes

Note 1:
Climbing Routes: Ooty can be climbed by road from either Mettupalayam direction or from Mysore/Gudalur direction. Mysore route forks out at Mudmalai and merges back at Gudalur, either route will be scenic.

Note 2:
Train Route: The supposedly world famous Mettupalayam to Ooty Nilgiris Mountain Railway is another option to climb up. It can be booked separately or along with your journey from Chennai or any other station to Coimbatore.

Note 3:
Driving Down by road: Ooty Ghat roads are quite slippery during rains, so novice drivers need to take extra care while driving down. Its better to check your brakes, tires before starting the journey, and give ample breaks for your engine, break-chords to cool down. Even if it is not required, it is always better to drive down in lower gears which give you better grip on the road, and always remember to leave way for vehicles climbing up.
